The official letterhead should include the organisation’s full address details, telephone, email and website addresses. The letter must be signed by your direct manager, the HR manager or the company’s CEO.
The statement of employment must include the following:
- The company letterhead
- Your full name
- The working hours per week
- Start and finish dates of employment
- Your official position title held at the organisation
- The salary earned
- Description of your main duties
- Position title and contact details of signatory – phone number, official work email address, and signature of the person writing the statement of employment

Do you need work experience for Migration Skills Assessment with IML?
Yes, To apply for Migration Skills Assessment with IML, applicants must meet specific work experience requirements depending on their educational background:
- If the applicant holds Bachelor's or Master's degree highly relevant to the assessed occupation and comparable to an AQF qualification:
- Senior management experience: Minimum of 3 years
- Relevant occupation experience: Minimum of 2 years
- If the applicant doesn’t hold a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree:
- Senior management experience: Minimum of 5 years
- Relevant occupation experience: Minimum of 2 years
Do I need formal qualification for Migration Skill Assessment with IML?
Formal qualification is not mandatory for migration skill assessment with IML. If you have enough work experience in the chosen nomination as required by IML, you can still get your skills assessed.
